After a lifetime love of gardening and a researcher of ferns amongst other things, I discovered the pure joy of capturing plant life in clay.
The variety of textures in the natural environment enriches the sensory experience for individuals.
There are similarities between a potter and a gardener – putting something into
a kiln is like putting a seed into the ground. There is always that eager
anticipation of what the results will be. I feel that the cross fertilisation
of the two crafts, that of pottery and gardening, means that both are
influenced and inspired by the other.
